One of the cool things about having your own Minecraft server is the power of commands. You have total control over your server! This post will go over how to make someone an OP/Operator on a Minecraft server.
Granting the Power of an OP
‘OP’ stands for ‘operator’, and giving someone OP status is like handing them the keys to the kingdom. They can use all sorts of commands, kick players, change gameplay settings, and more. Making someone an admin on Campfire Hosting is super simple – just head over to the Server logs section on your server control panel.
To make someone an OP, just type into the console: op [username]
Just replace [username] with the player’s name. For instance, if you want to make Steve an OP, you’d type /op Steve. If the command was successful you will see “Made [username] a server operator” in the popup.
Removing OP Status
Perhaps someone is misusing their powers or you’ve just decided to limit the number of OPs.
Command: /deop [username]
This command is just as simple. To remove Steve’s OP status, you’d type /deop Steve.
If you are already an OP/Admin, you can also do this command and any other server commands ingame through the text chat. You just have to do this first!
