The Tiny Mob Invasion: Snapshot 26.1 Survival Guide

Mojang clearly thinks we have too much free time. The 26.1 snapshots are adding enough tiny creatures to make even the sweatiest stop speedrunning for a second. Let’s dive into what is changing.

The New Tiny Overlords

The visuals for baby mobs finally got the glow up they deserved. They are no longer just shrunken versions of adults; they have their own personality now.

Farm life is looking significantly fresher with pigs, cows, and chickens getting brand new models. Out in the wild, things are getting even fluffier. Foxes, goats, and polar bears are now maximum floof. In a surprising twist, baby polar bears have also decided to stop beefing with foxes. Peace in our time, folks.

Down in the deep blue, axolotls now have a play dead animation for maximum drama. If they take a hit, they just flop over and hope you go away. It is incredibly relatable. Squids and dolphins also look much less like floating blocks and more like actual marine life. Even your mounts are joining in; horses, donkeys, and those creepy skeleton horses have all received new models and updated baby sounds.

The Fountain of Youth

If you find a pet so cute that you never want it to hit puberty, you are in luck. Minecraft has introduced a way to keep your favorites young forever.

It starts with the Golden Dandelion. You can craft one of these by combining a regular dandelion with gold nuggets. Once you have it, just use it on a baby mob to stop the aging process entirely. If you change your mind later and decide it is time for them to grow up and get a job, just use another Golden Dandelion to start the clock back up.

Keep in mind that this does not work on Villagers. You still have to deal with them growing up and complaining about your trade prices.

Don’t Delete Your Progress

Snapshot 6 is very serious about your world data. This is the part where you need to pay attention so you do not lose your three year old survival world.

The game is now forcing mandatory backups before you load an old world for the first time. Do not try to bypass this. Once you upgrade a world to this snapshot cycle, there is no going back to older versions. It is a one way trip.

On the plus side, the menu is much cleaner now. You can find Game Rules and difficulty settings right in the pause menu under World Options. There is even a search bar so you can finally find the toggle for fire spread without needing a wiki. For the full technical breakdown and the complete list of fixes, you can check out the official Minecraft Snapshot 26.1 blog post.
